Why should we reflect ?
It's not sufficient simply to have an experience in order to learn. Without reflecting upon this experience, it may quickly be forgotten, or its learning potential lost. It is from the feeling and thoughts from this reflection that generalization or concepts can be generated. It is these concepts allow new situations to be tackled effectively
How to reflect ?
1. Description (What happened)
2. Feelings (What were you thinking&feeling)
3. Evaluation (What was good&bad)
4. Analysis (What sense can you make the situation)
5. Analysis (What else could you have done )
6. Action Plan (If it arose again what would you do)
I learned many things in my life through mistakes and experiences. Experience make me stronger, better and wiser.
One of my experience is I get bad results in my Form 1 Mid-Year examination. I get 7As in my UPSR results. I'm quite confidence and thought that I can score without studying hard like primary school. Due to the confidence and not prepare for the exam, I get results that I never get before in my primary school. I was shocked with the bad results and I'm afraid to tell my parents that have high expectations on me. At last, I told my parents about my results, they were truly unhappy and dissapointed of my bad results. I get scolding from my parents because I didn't put in effort for the examination. I was very upset of my results too. My mum came to cheer me up by telling me not to give up and do my best next time. After this incident, I truly know that I need to work hard to be success. I also understand that it's not easy to get good results.
I have learned that our hard work will be paid off if we put in full effort. I understand that nothing is impossible to achieve. This understanding could be important to me as a learner because o need more experience to let me improve and become a better person in life.
Looking back, I now think that I have gained a life lesson through this incident and make myself a better person.
Another unforgettable memory is I went to a class trip with all my high school classmates after SPM. We enjoyed ourselves very much. On the first day, we went to Pulau Langkawi for 2 days and 1 nights. We went island hopping and explored the sea. Our relationship went closer and we enjoyed ourselves very much. At Pulau Langkawi, when we went for banana boat and some sea sports, I hurt myself. My ears was bleeding and it was really painful when it touched the sea water. The St. John members of my class helped me to clean my wounds. I truly felt that friendship is so important. Without their help I my ears may be infected and get worse.
We also went to Penang and explored all the good food. We also went to visit the 3D museums and mural art along Penang street. We enjoyed ourselves very much and the trip was filled with laughter. We went to the Escape Park too. It was very challenging and I did a lot activities that I had never try before.
I understand that friendship last forever and it will never ends. For me, the most meaningful experience was the help of my classmates that clean my wounds. Previously, I thought I no need anybody's help to survive. This reveals that the help of friends is very important.
Having experienced, I now feel that the presence of friendship is important in our life. Furthermore, I cherish all the moments with all my friends. I have significantly improved my knowledge of the importance of friends. This knowledge will be essential to me as a learner because I'm young and need more experience in life to learn from it. Because I'm not yet understand about the importance of friends, I will now need to learn to appreciate them. As a next step, I need to appreciate my friends more.
